Mid Century Modern Wedding - Midwest

What an exciting day!   Style Me Pretty – Midwest has shared a gorgeous styled wedding shoot that I worked on this past August.   Together with some pretty amazing wedding vendors here in Omaha, we  put together a Mid Century-Mod inspired wedding photo shoot.   Once of the best things about styling a ‘make believe’ wedding?  The ‘bride’ didn't have to worry or care about what it looked like (well actually she did.  She is an amazing interior designer that helped with the pre-shoot styling, but once onsite, she just got to have fun with her hubby, yep, believe it or not that happy couple really is married).   Could we have asked for a more beautiful couple to tell the story of such a stylish wedding?

Here are a few images that I am most proud of, featuring nothing but some super mod Inkblot Paper designs. (Yes, your eyes don’t deceive you, I did indeed print on real wood veneer using just a color laser printer!)  Click Here for the full gallery to see more at Style Me Pretty.

A big thanks to
-Carrie Dayton Events for bringing us all together and being the best producer and photo director
-Geoff Johnson for capturing all the beauty so we could share it with the world
the guys at Hutch for being inspiration for the shoot and lugging furniture out to the country to set the stage
-Tracey with Florals Etcetera for being so intuitive to create the perfect flowers to add such beautiful colors to the scene
-Courtney with Modern Hive for her pre-shoot styling and to her hubby for being such a good sport and a good looking model to boot
-Jocelyn at Ready or Knot for bringing beautiful dresses and a great personality
-Hilda (yes she only needs one name) who is one an amazing hair stylist that not only did the hair at this styled shoot, but my own wedding hair almost 9 years ago
-The Chocolate Bar for that amazing Cake

And last, but certainly not least, to my mother-in-law and father-in-law for letting us wander and create vignettes all over their property to set the scene so perfectly.

Gold!!!!

I haven't posted in ages but just cannot hold back anymore!   Just this week I discovered a new technique and I have to share!

I can gold foil at home using my laser printer!   Oh the excitement of it all!   More to come on this new shiny world of wonder but I just hade to share a quick photo of my very first sample :)

More Minted Art Prints

I am pretty excited about Minted’s digital art gallery, there are so many lovely art pieces and I am lucky to have two of my own pieces (Natures Confetti & Looking Down) part of the collection.

Well they just closed another art challenge and I decided to enter in a few new pieces last minute.  So if you have time and would like to vote, please click on the below image, otherwise just enjoy the view.

Happy weekend everyone!

This design started as a baby announcement a couple years ago, but I thought it would make for a good nursery print:

and a little peak into my home.  This painting is one that hangs in my dining room:

DIY Wedding: Pocket Invitations!

More and more I meet brides and other crafty individuals that are so excited to make and create their own one of a kind stationery but don't know where to find the paper, the pocket folds etc.

I have to admit I was once one of those, dare I say it, crafty individuals.  So when asked, I jumped at chance to launch a new envelopments shop where anyone can purchase the fabulous paper, card stock, pocket folds and envelopes that create such a amazing beautiful designs.   Click through the below image or through the shop posted on this blog or my website to see more!

Something is in the Water - Baby Designs

The most recent Minted challenge couldn’t have come at a more ideal time.   Baby Announcements!

I may be exaggerating when I say this, but not by much: almost everyone I know is either pregnant, just had a baby or will sometime in the next 6 months.   This includes my older sister and my baby brother’s wife (ok he is not much a baby anymore at age 28), both due within months of each other.   Lets just say that I had to restrain myself from buying a million tiny little clothes over the weekend.   So exciting!!!

It goes without saying that I was thrilled to create some fun baby announcements for minted.   We will see what happens during voting over the next couple days.

If you have time to vote, feel free to click on the below images and have at it!

This year is definitely going to be the year of the baby!  (Er…I haven’t been drinking the water, I promise, so no babies directly from me.  I prefer the babies that you can hand back to the parents once they start crying, thank you very much!)

Wedding Planning Season in this Happy New Year

Happy New Year to All!

While I am not a big resolution-making/keeping-type person, there are a few goals I am setting for the new year, but of course they are still in the works.   The biggest one is setting realistic and achievable goals etc, so I am going to take some time figuring out which are the most important.  I do know for sure that posting consistently to this blog will be one of them!

One of my favorite things about this time of year is that it truly is wedding planning season.  I've been meeting with brides and grooms all week and I am so excited to get rolling with all kinds of design ideas, unique to each couple.

Of course I cannot post without mentioning something going on over at Minted.   Since it is the season to get engaged and to start getting wedding plans rolling, Minted is holding a wedding inspiration board challenge.   I had a ton of fun creating a few boards myself and decided in the end to enter the top option.   So take a look, feel free to click through and like my boards and start creating your own, it is easy, fun and a good way to spend an entire day doing nothing but looking at pretty things!

Designers Care: Hurricane Sandy Support

Much like many individuals across the country over the last couple weeks I experienced Hurricane Sandy from the safety of my home, looking at the devastation of the east cost via TV and photos posted on various news and social media sights.  Wanting to help, but not sure how.

Cue in the very talented Jackie Mangiolino, owner of Believe Notes, a designer friend and NY native.  Jackie, with the help of her mother and over 50 designers, decided to help through the best way we know how, through design. She created an Etsy shop called Designers Care where you can purchase beautifully designed and stamped note cards and all proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross.

Each design in this shop has been donated by an established designer and then hand stamped, or hand embossed, onto either a small wallet-sized card or a larger note card. The cards are perfect for keeping as inspiration, framed art, or to gift it forward to people that may be in need of a little cheering up.

Please click through these links (below the image) to view more designs and support such an important cause while bringing a little beauty into your life.

Hint: these would also make lovely holiday cards, gifts and gift tags!

Holidays are here!

It sure is crazy that I haven't posted in such a long time and even crazier that I am posting about the holidays (really they are just around the corner)

To get you in the spirit I thought I would share a little inspiration board with you.   I am totally into this neutral metallic look.  So beautiful and timeless!

You too can create your own inspiration boards, just click though the below image to minted.com

New Art Prints

I am really excited about the new Minted Art Print category. It really takes me back to my fine art studio days! After the big holiday challenge it was kind of nice to look through my past portfolio to see what I had that was ‘minted worthy.’ Sort of an easy and fun way to enter a challenge.

So I submitted the following. Feel free to vote for these and more if you have the time. Remember a 5 = AMAZING, but only if you think so too.

I also thought I would try out a few portraits to see what would happen with the reaction of the community. So we will see how they fair.

Christmas (and Hanukah too!) in Junely

I am posting to celebrate Christmas/Hanukah/Holidays in Junely (pronounced June-Lie, yes this is a made up word I created combining June and July)! That is right, while the rest of the world is enjoying the summer I’ve been hunkered in my design studio ignoring the bright sunny day outside my window (and all other things as well, just ask my husband about the state of our house!). Instead of sitting pool side I’ve been imagining winter wonderlands, sugar plum ferries, and all that the holiday season will bring. ‘Why?’ you may ask. Well, in the stationery world summertime Christmas/Hanukah is the norm, in fact, it is all the rage, as designers of the world work on the creations to make your family look beautiful on your holiday card of choice come November/December (and January for you procrastinators out there!).

Take a look at the below designs and if you deem them worthy of your time, please feel free to vote for each and every one of them by clicking on their individual images. Every vote will bring the design closer to being sold on minted.com (one of the loveliest stationery websites out there).
